Hi Dalia

1 and 2) I'd suggest you have a read of the LyX tutorials, which will take you through resizing graphics and making tables:
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Tutorials

3) Not sure I follow you here. For references you'll probably want to use bibtex, have a read of this for an introduction:

hiii,

I have a problem with the template:
1. Tables when I run the pdf version, not all the table is shown i.e. part of it is cropped, even after scaling.
2. Also same applies to the figure, I want to scale it to fit to page, it doesn't work
3. One of my friends claimed that this template will not work as the general latex file in case of references....It may be cannot search/find all the IEEE conferences..

So any help plz thxx, plz reply asap ;)

Hi Pacarval, this should work for you:

1. Copy over the ociamthesis-lyx.cls to
    /Users/[username]/Library/texmf/tex/latex
2. From the terminal run
	 sudo texhash
3. Copy over the ociamthesis-lyx.layout to
	 /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/LyX-[version]/layouts
4. Go to menu LyX > reconfigure
5. Restart and you'll be ready

Replacing [username] with your mac username, and [version] with your LyX version. Note that Finder hides ~/Library by default, so if you're copying it over using Finder you'll need to use the 'Go to Folder...' command in the drop down menus, and type ~/Library to unhide it. If ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex
does not exist, create it and mactex should find it.

Hi Paul

You can download all the files at once from Github if you click on 'Downloads' (you will of course also have to download LyX, and a Latex backend).

All the file merging is done by LaTeX, which is the backend that LyX runs on top of. You can simply have one massive .lyx file with all your content in and not worry about merging documents, but this template gives you the option to have each chapter as a separate file (all of which can be edited through lyx, and merged with the click of the compile button).

Good luck getting it working -- Latex and even Lyx can be painful at times, but I assure you it's worth it in the long run!

This Template Rocks!!

I have a question though.

I went to Github to download the files, and I found my self with a bunch of files to download. So, is that how to you put the thesis together? You create all those independent files? And there merge them together as PDF´s? Usually in Word I worked with only one document.
I have to download the ociamthesis-lyx.cls, install it , AND also download the other archives?Great job with the template!Paul

Hey, Thanks. I need an Oxford education and then I would be able to work things like that out myself! I love open source and guys like you are just great sharing your knowledge.

One other thing. i am trying to get this to do 1.5 line spacing. I saw how to get the doublespace but I am not sure how to get the 1.5. Hopefully I won't bug you too much more as it is all starting to work and look nice. By the way, I get the blank first page too - windows xp - I know, dinosaur. I can remove it in Acrobat anyway before I submit.
